FREIGHT COMPANIES - Shipping Inflatables
|
Shipping inflatables can be an expensive venture. It
is worth getting prices from the manufacturer as well independent
freight companies. FYI: Correct Freight Class for
Inflatables is 125. If a shipper uses a different freight
class and the unit gets damaged it will not be covered.
To properly ship your inflatable you will need to
obtain a pallet. Many retail stores will place their
pallets behind their store near the garbage dumpster (might want
to ask a store employee before you take them). Be sure to
roll the inflatable unit tight and preferably short to prevent
tipping. Most units can be rolled into fourths instead of
thirds to get a shorter and fatter roll. The vinyl roll should
never hang over the side of the pallet. Vinyl that hangs
over the pallets can easily get ripped or torn by getting caught
on fork lifts, or other pallets being moved around. Next,
I would recommend getting a type of shrink wrap or similar
product. Rolls of Wrap can be purchased at most office
supply stores, located next to the shipping boxes. Be sure
to roll the wrap around the entire inflatable so that no vinyl
has the chance of popping out of the roll and getting damaged or
soiled. Finally, get some rope and secure the vinyl roll
to the pallet. Be sure to protect your investment! |
